How to...use your LinkedIn to your benefit? 🔎💼

LinkedIn Job Search Tips
Recruiters are in daily contact with many job seekers who are looking for work. They are being approached via email, phone, and of course LinkedIn. Check out a few tips with you about how to improve your LinkedIn profile to make it more attractive to recruiters.

Remember that your LinkedIn profile is your digital personal brand. Having an eye-catching LinkedIn account is one of the most important things when searching for a job online. 👀💻

Here are some tips to improve your LinkedIn experience:

  1. Photo. Don't forget to include a photo! It's always nice to see the face of the person you're talking to. Just make sure it's a professional photo - once again, it's your digital brand! 📷💼
  2. Headline. As a recruiter, I want to understand who you are and what you do as soon as possible. Your headline should speak for itself. What do you do? Are you a Document Controller in the Maritime industry? Be clear and unique, but don't waste space on words like "Experienced" in your headline. 📝👀
  3. About. Use your summary to explain a bit more about yourself. Tell us about your professional experience and a bit about who you are. As a recruiter, I would really like to know that, so don't miss that part. And remember that your current or prior employer will likely view your profile. So use your best judgment about what you write. 🔍📝
  4. Share your experience. Your LinkedIn page is like a digital CV. Mention a few bullet points about what you do or did in your career so that I can know even more about you. I want to make sure I have the right job for you, so let us help each other. 💻📝
  5. Proofread! Make sure you don't have spelling or grammar mistakes or typos in your profile. It always catches the eye of the recruiter. 📝👀
  6. Recommendations. Have great reviews from your manager or ex-colleague? Maybe even your university professor? Ask them to write a recommendation for you. A good reference always catches the eye of a recruiter. 💼👀
  7. Network. Don't forget that LinkedIn is a platform for digital networking. Connect with people who are interesting to you, who are from the same industry, and share your knowledge and interests. You never know, your next connection can be your next employer. 🌐🤝
  8. Customize your URL. Your LinkedIn URL should resemble this: linkedin.com/in/yourname. If your name is taken, try a combination with initials or otherwise. For instructions, search LinkedIn Help or type "LinkedIn customize URL" into a search engine. Once your link is customized, you can include it on your resume and/or email signature. 🔗📧💼
  9. Be active. There is a lot of useful information on LinkedIn, and you can always find like-minded people who share common interests. Expand your network, engage in discussions, and share your own updates. This will provide further insight into your capabilities and personality to potential employers who may want to learn more about you than just your job history. 💻🤝
  10. Personal approach. Try to have a personal approach towards your connections. Do not just copy-paste your messages to everyone, try to address the person by name. Personalize your message, ask yourself why you want to connect with THIS person, and create your message accordingly. We can always feel when it is another copy-paste message or when a person has put an effort into connecting with us. It is human nature to respond to a more personalized approach with more interest. 🤝💼👀
